Description: “Introduction to Designing the Occlusal Scheme with Micro Occlusion 1”
Prerequisite Course: Levels 1, 2, and 3
AGD Subject Code: 184 Occlusal Adjustment/Therapy
This “hands on", "how to” course trains the dentist to use their understanding and knowledge gained from OC's Level 1, 2 and 3 to offer comprehensive diagnosis and effective treatment to their patients. Dentists and lab technicians are guided through an actual 2 day hands-on exercise of anatomical carving of the posterior occlusal form following Chan's systematic occlusal carving and shaping protocols.
"IMPROVING PATIENT CARE . . ."
The lower anatomical orthosis is the foundational tool to understand occlusion and functional movements. The dentist will learn what to grind and what not to grind on the dental occlusal table. An appreciation for occlusal anatomy, micro adjusting details and its effect on the proprioceptive feedback mechanism of jaw movements is critical to the dentist who is willing to discipline his/herself in occlusal management (a key element for all restorative dentists). This program is not for the weak at heart, but is for those dentists and technicians wanting to take their dentistry and bite management to the next level of excellence. The terms "coronoplasty" and "micro-occlusion" means different things to different dentist, but has special meaning to Dr. Chan and dentists who desire to see GNM from an advanced perspective, advancing beyond classic neuromuscular occlusal understanding and appreciation to bite stabilization management."HOW STABLE IS YOUR CASE?"
Occlusal nomenclature is presented and a live demonstration on why and how Dr. Chan uses the J5 Dental TENS to properly "optimize" his bite registration with the K7 is an eye opener for every neuromuscular-minded clinician. Understanding how to accurately managed all the various occlusal incline planes properly and land the occlusal marks on an optimized measured myo-trajectory is critical to begin the next level of GNM occlusal stabilization for any occlusally compromised case. This Level 4 allows dentists to see the efficiency of time and movement through a GNM design orthotic that speeds up a reline visit that sometimes has to happen because of an out of town patient who maybe cannot wait for a lab to do the reline correction. It's not as hard as one thinks when one watches the systematic approach that Dr. Chan has developed. The first time the course is taken the doctor focuses on drawing dots and lines and trying to keep track of grooves and "does it look like teeth" thinking. When doctors return to audit the course they see more clearly the almost factory like way one can carve the acrylic without the worry that it will look like a tooth! (That is the power of awareness and understanding at the next level).

"This was a course that I looked forward to greatly. It did not disappoint...It was better than I had hoped. This is most likely the course that I will apply more than any other. Jane is the best, Thank you. Dr. Chan demystified occlusion. he gives clarity to the subject. The focus on the anatomy and the advance adjustment techniques make micro occlusion/coronoplasty an expectable, attainable goal. Thank you!" - Stephen W. Durham, D.M.D., Beaufort, South Carolina
"Master Dr. Chan, thank you for all your enthusiasm and dedication in teaching me and other OC members what you know that works in occlusion. You painted colors on the many gray area of my GNM knowledge. I am more encouraged and confident to treat those patients of mine who can benefit from NM treatment. Thank you for graciously answering my numerous questions during the course and helping me out with my cases after the class. I am so looking forward to attend the next level course. Mrs. Chan, thank you for your first class care and hospitality. The food was delicious. I appreciate all your accommodation and help throughout the course. ".
